Move over Ford F-150, there’s a new Truck of the Year. Motor Trend has recently named Chrysler's 2013 Ram the 2013 Truck the Truck of the Year due to what they describe as a combination of everyday functionality, ease of use, and work-site utility.
The 2013 Ram 1500 is a head above the rest with their newly refined air suspension system, class leading fuel economy, and advanced technology that’s second to none. Motor Trend Magazine compared it to the elegant 2013 Chrysler 300. “The Ram 2013 1500 SLT is essentially driving a Chrysler 300 with a bed.”
The new Ram 1500 drives like a Chrysler 300 for multiple reasons, starting with the air suspension. The new air suspension system makes for comfortable and quiet driving no matter what the conditions are. It also allows you to change the height of your vehicle; higher when you need clearance under your vehicle, and lower for highway driving and added fuel performance.
In addition, Chrysler has also introduced an eight-speed transmission, as well as an automatic “start-stop” system that shuts down the engine whenever the truck is at a complete stop. These two new features are what allow the 2013 Ram 1500 to get maximum power and 25 MPG with its V6 engine. Due to the extra gears with the eight-speed transmission, the V6 engine can use its available horsepower more efficiently.It’s not just what’s under the hood that was updated. Motor Trend is quick to point out the Ram 1500’s interior updates complete with Uconnect 8.3-inch screen as well as a rotary shifter that’s going to be new to a lot of truck drivers.
